MEETING INFORMATION: The meeting will take place in the Humanities
Instructional Building (HIB), room 135. HIB is building #610, grid area
D4 on the campus map (http://www.uci.edu/campusmaps.shtml).
DIRECTIONS: The UCI campus may be conveniently reached from the Orange
County/John Wayne Airport (SNA), the Long Beach Airport (LGB), the Los
Angeles Int’l Airport (LAX), and the LA/Ontario Int’l
Airport (ONT). Taxis from the Orange County/John Wayne Airport to
campus cost about $20. Taxis from other airports to campus are
expensive. The most economical option is a shuttle van, which picks up
passengers on the departure level just outside the airport terminals.
Coming on 405 Fwy - Exit on Culver Drive and go towards UCI (West)
about 2 km; Turn right on Campus Drive and go about 1 km to University
Center mall on the right – up to the intersection of Campus Drive
with Bridge Road (right) and West Peltason Drive (left).
From this intersection you have the following options:
1. To park on campus close to HIB: Turn left on West Peltason Drive and
go about 200m; Turn left on Mesa Road and go to Mesa Parking Structure
(day passes cost $7 and are sold at the entrance); from there, walk
left on the circular walkway – about 80 m to HIB on the left.
2. To park in the University Center mall – it’s free but
there is a risk of a fine for parking for a UCI event: Turn right on
Bridge Road and right into the mall; from there, walk (about 8 min)
– go on the pedestrian bridge over the Campus Drive; follow
straight, up the stairway, and right on the circular walkway to HIB on
the right.
LODGING: A block of rooms has been reserved for the conference (the
nights of October 24, 25, 26) at the Atrium Hotel
(http://www.atriumhotel.com/), under the group name “Kant
Conference”. These rooms will be held until 10/16/08 at a
preferential rate of $104/night (single or double occupancy). The
Atrium Hotel is located across the street from the Orange County/John
Wayne Airport. There is a free shuttle service between the hotel and
the UCI campus.
FEES AND REGISTRATION: Meetings are free and open to all. There is no
membership. The PSG receives financial support from the North American
Kant Society and from host universities (in this case, the University
of California at Irvine).
Please notify Sven Bernecker at (s.bernecker@uci.edu) by October 16 if
you plan on attending the conference and if you would like to attend
